The law allows political calls, charitable phone calls, information calls, calls to your debts, telephone surveys, and calls from companies that do business with you or allow calls. If you receive unwanted sales calls or robocall-a recorded messages, these messages are being promoted for products or services - this could be a scam. The unethical behavior behind these phones uses an automatic dialer to dial thousands of calls per minute and there is no need to check if these numbers are on the Do Not Call Registry. Do not press a button to ask someone to call or delete from the call list. You will eventually receive more unnecessary calls. Hang up and report to the Federal Trade Commission at complaints.donotcall.gov or 1-888-382-1222.
